Frequently Asked Questions

Because you’re good at English—but not good at IELTS strategy.
To reach Band 7+, you need:

Fewer “safe” phrases and repetitive structures
Clear, fully developed answers
Better vocabulary range

Relying on memorised answers and templates.
Examiners are trained to spot them—and they limit your score.

Upgrade your language:

Instead of simple answers → extend and justify your ideas
Instead of “I think…”“From my perspective…”

Writing is stricter. You’re marked on:

Grammar accuracy
Structure
Clarity
Most students lose marks because they don’t answer the question directly.

Focus on:

Clear position (your opinion)
Logical paragraphingExplaining ideas fully
Not longer essays—better ideas, more clearly explained.

No. You need:

Control, not perfection
A mix of simple and complex sentences
Frequent small mistakes are fine—constant errors are not.

Long enough to show:

Range of vocabulary
Ability to develop ideas
But not so long that you lose focus.
Think natural, extended answers—not speeches.

No. It limits your flexibility and examiners can recognise it.
Focus on understanding structure, not copying content.

Yes—but progress is much faster with feedback.
Without it, you won’t see your mistakes as clearly.

There’s no honest, fixed answer to this.

Everyone starts at a different level, has different habits, and improves at a different speed. Two students with the same starting score can take completely different paths—one might reach Band 7 in a few weeks, another might take months.

What can be said is this:

  • If you focus on strategy + feedback, progress is much faster
  • If you just “practice” without fixing mistakes, progress is slow
  • Small score jumps (e.g. 6.5 → 7.0) are often the hardest and take the longest

So instead of asking “How long will it take?”, the better question is:
“Am I actually working on the things that improve my score?”
Because that—not time—is what determines how fast you improve.
